Men's Curling - Evening Leagues

The men's closing ceremony is held at the end of the season. It is a very popular event because both the Tuesday Night Men's Rated and Thursday Night Men's Divisional leagues combine for it. It starts off with the final games for both leagues followed by dinner and awards presentations. There are many draws throughout the evening. Everyone who attends will win a door prize or draw prize.

Social/Competitive Leagues:

1) Tuesday Night Rated

This is an individual entry league (teams are assigned by convenor). If you are unable to commit to every Tuesday evening, you may register as a spare. Game times alternate between 6:45 pm & 9:00 pm.

The remaining qualified teams are teams that are put together based on individual points earned throughout the season.  All players may not make the playoffs.

The Men's Rated trophy is called the Piddler. It has the original pebbler that was used by the Whitby Curling Club, at its previous location decades ago, mounted on it. During the season each player is awarded the points their team earned in each draw. At the end of the season, the player with the most accumulated points is awarded the Glinz Memorial Trophy.

Competitive Leagues:

1) Thursday Night Divisional League

This is a competitive team entry league, however, individuals are welcome to register. Our league convenors will do their best to help place you on a team that is in need of players. Game times alternate each week between 6:45 pm and 9:00 pm.

There are usually 3-4 divisions in each draw and 3 draws per season, depending on the number of players available. The third draw is followed by a playoff round. Teams remain together for the entire season.

At the end of every draw, the two (2) teams with the best records in each division will move up a division and the two (2) teams with the worst records in each division will move down a division. Cameron Points are awarded for wins, loses and ties. The team with the most points at the end of the third draw is awarded the Cameron Trophy.

During the playoffs teams are grouped into brackets were they compete for either the Gord Carroll Trophy or the President's Cup.
